What you actually do
Startup Company is a business simulation sandbox about growing a technology company. You begin with a small investment and develop a website business, balancing product features, marketing, and the hosting capacity needed to serve more visitors.
The office is part of that operating system. You select premises, arrange and decorate them, recruit staff, and keep employees happy as their expectations grow. Unlike a decorating sandbox, the space supports a business with demands and competitors.
Expansion also moves beyond desks. The official Steam description includes a hosting center, competition, and acquiring other companies. The office theme is therefore a doorway into a wider management game rather than the whole experience.
Why we recommend it
The clearest choice here for company-building and employee management. Pick it over Cubicles when you want decisions about staffing, infrastructure, and growth—not simply a place to explore.
When to choose something else
Expect management systems rather than a multiplayer hangout or a scripted workplace comedy. Office design serves the simulation; it is not a shared public space for your personal project.
- Human Resource Machine: programming and logic puzzles.
- Cubicles: social office play and personal expression.
Before you play
Read the current Steam system requirements for your operating system. Some legacy minimum specifications on store pages differ from what the Steam client itself now supports.
